My name is African Girl Finance. I was born in West Africa and immigrated to France and the United States as a child. Growing up, I watched my single mom struggle with finances, and it seemed like there was never enough money, which caused her constant stress. As first-generation, low-income, and coming from a single-parent household there was always a lot of pressure to beat the odds and become wealthy.

I founded African Girl Finance after graduating from a small liberal arts college and feeling uncertain about how to manage income from my first job. I turned to my friends and resources such as YouTube and personal finance books. While these resources were helpful, I realized that the recurring message was that I wasn't making enough money to cover my expenses, save, and invest to build wealth. This did not sit right with me, and I wanted to find a way to bring the useful tips I've learned along my journey to my community.

From there, I developed innovative value-based personal finance tips and strategies that can work for anyone, regardless of how much money they make.
